I think the staggering success of Hololive-EN is the natural result of opening the gaping maw of Tartarus, fully formed, directly below an English-speaking audience who did not know they wanted this thing.

I occasionally watched Kizuna AI during the early days, but never lost multiple evenings in a week to her content...

This week, I have not gone an evening without watching at least some clip or four of Pekora pranking Subaru and shouting at Moona if not an actual live stream.

Tonight, my #D&D players snuck into the basement of a distillery that had been operating more as a prison and worse... and after rescuing the only living prisoner, lit the place up.

I could not have been more proud at that moment - if for no other reason than I've been trying to convince my party to let me burn down one enemy hideout or another "as a distraction" in the game I'm playing in for the better part of two years now ;)

Sigh... and after hours of frustration, have discovered that it simply does NOT compile for windows any more. There is OSX-specific code in the project... and the git repo is all but dead. Sigh.

Currently finding it ironic that MonoDevelop doesn't ship windows binaries - which means you need to use Visual Studio to bootstrap it...

So in the #dnd game with the kids this weekend, I intentionally inflicted my (elementary school aged) son with lycanthropy. I'd been thinking it over for weeks and decided that it needed to happen for his story - largely because he'd not received any magical item upgrades yet.

But when we're making saving throws (DC 20, etc...) - he actually *remembers* that as a level 3 paladin, he is immune to disease. And I was so proud - he didn't even have to consult his character sheet.

And it almost killed me to basically ignore a super power that he remembered he had by telling him that this was in fact a "curse", and not a "disease", even though it is transmitted just like one...

In the long run, it's going to be awesome. I'm going to allow him to develop control over the transformation and will allow him to decide whether he wants to be cured down the line (and he will retain some positive "side effects" if he does)... but OY this is going to be a bumpy ride for the next little while.

So by sheer coincidence, the one time I have any physical money on hand, I wind up having exactly enough.

AND I GOT TO EAT TACOS.

They were delicious.

But I knew that I had cash this time around, because a couple of days ago, I'd talked to a man who was collecting for a local charity - and had given him most of what I'd been carrying at the time.

I've seen this group before and have spoken with them a few times, but normally I don't have any cash, so I tend to bow out of the conversations after wishing them well.

I normally don't carry -any- cash, so it was fortunate that I had this money - otherwise there would have been NO TACOS.

Scrounging in my wallet, I found that I had exactly enough cash for the order. So I paid the man and stood happily in the early morning drizzle waiting for my food.

Placed an order that would give both of us a decent breakfast and started to pull out my card to pay when I realized that the truck was cash only.

Stopped at a taco truck this morning. It was raining. I've passed this particular truck a hundred times before, but never stopped to give them a try. Decided that I needed breakfast, and would grab something for the only coworker I ever see in person any more while I was at it.

Why is it that every time I see 2018, my brain inevitably says "oh, 4 years ago"... ?!
