Existential crisis content that I like to tell

Imagine we are cloning you at your current state.

You have the same memory, same taste, same objectives...

Every atoms are the same, it's "you".

If we kill you and keep the clone, nobody will know you have been killed, you will never know what "you" will be doing, everyone will live happily with "you".

It's important to read and understand the first post to understand this one :blobcatUwu:

What is consciousness ? We don't know much.

All we know is that it's our current "state" (in mind).

When we fall unconcious, we don't know what happen, since we are unconcious.

What tell us you will ever be concious again ?

Why can't it simply be a simple "copy" of your consciousness before you fell unconscious ?

There would be no differences, at all, since this copy will have the same memory as you currently have.

It's will be "you" taking over, but no longuer you.

Everytime you feel unconcious, you die.

Everytime you go to sleep, you die.

re: Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt probably so. But how is any of this a bad thing?

re: Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@newt was it a bad thing ?

re: Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt you make it seem so. I could be mistaken tho.

re: Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@newt I feel like it's an interesting stuff to think about

I just know that many peoples are kinda uneasy with this kind of content, thus "existential crisis" stuff

Living only one day and then dying seems scary :blobcatGiggleSmirk:

@Miaourt Consciousness is probably more tied to body than it feels like. It is limited by a local memory and resources. Even if all the people have shared consciousness each feels their own because their own memory and perception are accessible to the body and one cannot access memory and perception of another person. The same with copies. Two copies shares old memories but not from the point of the copying. Each will perceive oneself as original.

@zebranium what are you trying to add ?

Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt the difference between copies is the same as the difference between people in general.

Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@zebranium that's the point of the two posts no :blobcatSmileSweat: ?

Yeah, two copies start to be divergent 1ms after being copied, but still, they share an enormous amount of stuff, their neurons are linked the same, their organism are the same, they will take time to not be eerie twins reacting the same all the time

Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt I doesn't mean they will have split side-by-side view or merged perception. Also they won't act quite the same because of the butterfly effect and nature of dynamic systems.

Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@zebranium why not ? If you put thoses two copy in the same environnement, say the universe split in two and they both live the same...

My model here is that everything is kinda deterministic, if you know the state of everything at time X, you will know X+1, and basically the rest of the universe until the end.

Saldy, we can't, and I'm currently not aware of any chaos, say the quantum thingy, that could change the state of the matter that run us

I'm getting too far out of my field tho, take it with a lot of salt lol

Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt well, it impossible to keep both copies in a single universe because for being the same they need to be exactly in the same physical location what is equal to be a single person.

In parallel universes both universes need to be fully separated from each other. No interaction and a copy will know nothing about the existence of another copy or another universe. Exactly what we have with real world and our universe.

@Miaourt (I am not sure anymore that the words "real" and "our" are right here, sorry.)

re: Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt What is consciousness? Definitely not a distinctive property of "living matter". All matter does posses it, but this property doesn't manifest itself equally in all the forms matter can have.

re: Existential crisis content that I like to tell 2

@Miaourt P.S. Fortunately I don't have to do anything special to die, this is perhaps the only thing I can afford not to take care of...
